Offering Fine Jewelry that is Distinct. Different. Other. You.

OTHER ORE

Meet The Founder

Other Ore was founded in Portland, Oregon by Sheryl Maloney after a long stint in the tech and sportswear industries where she championed inclusion while bringing products to market for the world's biggest celebrities.

This mom of three boys discovered her talent for jewelry making at the height of the pandemic while searching for her sanity amidst eight hours of corporate zoom calls.

Never one to do anything half measure, her tiny pretty things started flowing out into the world at warp speed. When she realized she was spreading a vibe that made people feel better, she decided to make this whole damn company from scratch.

OUr Brand Ethos

The Earth Yields Infinite Beauty

But her resources are scarce. Our founder grew up in an Iron Ore mining town and has seen the scars man often leaves behind in haste.

At Other Ore we are committed to prioritizing sustainable practices in our packaging and materials as much as we can and we choose partners who feel the same. As we continue to grow our dream is to shift to using only recycled metals.

Here Us when WE say this...

BE DIFFERENT. BE DISTINCT. BE OTHER. BE YOU.

Because there is nothing worse than being told to be something you are not or told to hide who you are. To be told you cannot achieve something you dream. To be stuck in a corner or othered out of a room. It's time to take the word other back to it's origin and celebrate all that it means to be uniquely you.

We Ride Hard For Portland

Let's face it Portland's rep has seen better days, but we believe in this city. It's given us our start. Our kids were born here. There is no other like it. Close to the mountains, The desert and the sea. It's a wonderland!

Its people have embodied our ethos long before we did and we want to be a part of its inevitable comeback.

About Those Pellets?

The Ore in our name was inspired, not by Oregon, but by the iron ore mining town in Michigan where our founder grew up. Those little bluish-purple pellets scattered throughout our branding are the same exact iron ore pellets that would tumble off train cars and land between the railroad ties where she would pluck them up and pretend they were worth millions.

That is where "Other" comes in. She was one-of-a-kind or so her momma always told her. To be "Other," means your vibe is different and distinct and we think that the jewelry you wear should reflect your otherworldliness.
